The Lakin Foundation Carter Lake Club

The Iowa West Ranch encompasses The Lakin Foundation Carter Lake Unit and Camp Nakomis. Carter Lake Unit serves more than 600 members each year and has a history rich in tradition and excellence. Located on 35 acres of forest land in Carter Lake, IA, the Carter Lake Unit also offers a summer day camp experience to Metro youth each year called Camp Nakomis. At camp, members take part in fishing, archery, canoeing, arts, and outdoor skills education.

    Younger Members
    Monday: 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
    Tuesday – Friday: 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

    Teens
    Monday: 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
    Tuesday – Friday: 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

    Summer
    8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

  • Ages

    Serving youth ages 5 to 18

  • Membership Fees

    $30 per youth/per year
    Teens are FREE
    Scholarships are available for the Carter Lake Club

    *All memberships expire on December 31.

  • Transportation

    Transportation provided from:
    Carter Lake Elementary
    Woodrow Wilson Middle School
    Thomas Jefferson High School
