Academic Success Programs
National Fine Arts Exhibit
This year-round program encourages artistic expression among Club members ages 6 to 18 through drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, mixed media and sculpture displayed at local and regional exhibits.
Power Hour offers a structured time and place for Club staff and volunteers to help members with an important aspect of the educational process: homework. Members emerge from the program better prepared for classes and proud of their hard work and accomplishments. Power Hour helps members become self-directed, resourceful and independent learners. They turn in their homework assignments completed and on time.
Readers to Leaders
Readers to Leaders is a 90-day results-driven program targeting 7 and 8 year-old Club members who could benefit most from a reading performance boost. The program teaches important reading skills necessary to connect with and understand text. It adapts to each child’s needs and has checkpoints along the way to show growth.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering/Entrepreneurship, and Math) programming includes mobile and web development and networking. STEM provides an opportunity for members to build on skills acquired through various programs while preparing for post-secondary education, a STEM career, and entrepreneurship. STEAM includes the Arts into the original STEM programming.
Summer Brain Gain
Summer Brain Gain is comprised of one-week modules with fun, themed activities for elementary school, middle school and high school students that are aligned with common core anchor standards. In addition, BGCA introduced Summer Brain Gain: Read!, a literacy program that complements the larger Summer Brain Gain curriculum.
