Camp Nakomis
Activities and Programs
Camp Activities
Campers participate in a variety of activities. Camp Nakomis encompasses over 35 acres of wooded area and lakefront access, so the possibilities are endless. On Carter Lake itself, campers can participate in canoeing, paddle boating and fishing (swimming is not allowed). On the campground, campers can participate in scouting skills, arts & crafts, archery, team sports, group projects, performing arts, team building activities and more.

Each week at Camp Nakomis centers around a particular theme. Activities will be based on the theme of each week. In a typical week, 3 days will be general camp programming, 1 day will be dedicated to the theme of the week (may include special field trips and/or special programming), and Friday is always a special day with awards for every member, special interest clubs, water days and more.

A Day at Camp Nakomis
Upon arrival, campers will congregate in the pavilion of Camp Nakomis. On Monday of each week, campers will be divided up into 4 groups of 30 members. These groups will remain the same for the remainder of the week. Campers will sit with their assigned group at the pavilion picnic tables for morning announcements, raising of the flags, the pledge of allegiance, and camp song.
Campers can request to be in groups with friends every Monday.
Campers will be in the same group and have the same counselors for the duration of the week. Following the raising of the flags and opening announcements, each group will proceed to their first activity. 2010 Camp Activity Preview
