Todd Engle
President, BGCM Board of Directors
My 15 years on the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands Board has only made me more passionate about the Boys & Girls Clubs movement and its mission.
So many dedicated and caring people work diligently each day to support the children who need help the most; to give kids from disadvantaged environments a chance to not only survive, but thrive…to realize their dreams.
As President of the Club’s Board of Directors, I could not be more proud of the profound difference our organization has on the children of this community. In these difficult times, every kid deserves a place where they can enjoy their childhood. Our Clubs provide that safe, positive place and much more.
Tim Holland
Chairman, BGCM Board of Directors
Some have said Boys & Girls Clubs are a second home and a school away from school. That was certainly true for me growing up in South Omaha.
My Club family came along side my parents and helped to open doors unimaginable to me.
Supported by a committed Board and backed by thousands of supporters, the professional Club staff recognized my talents and opened doors and created opportunities that set the course for the rest of my life. With their help, I was able to achieve dreams that would have been otherwise unimaginable.
Today, over 8,600 kids with dreams of their own, belong to one of the six Boys & Girls Clubs located across the Omaha Metro area. With the help of today’s dedicated Club supporters and staff, their dreams can become a reality.
Fred Schott
President & CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands
This is my second time around. I worked with kids at the Omaha Clubs from 1972 – 1980. One never really leaves a lifetime passion, but I ‘returned’ in 2002 after a 22-year career in business. Much has changed since then and the challenges are greater than ever.
Today, we are challenging every child to reach their full potential. The challenge arises out of an enduring, never changing belief that every child is gifted in some way and it’s up to all of us to uncover each one’s special gifts.
Across America and our own community are thousands of alumni. Some of them are prominent leaders, most are just average people. The one thing almost all of them will tell you is that the Club made a real difference for them. Many will say, “the Club may have saved my life.”
No reward or recognition compares with an adult approaching you in an airport, a store, an athletic event or other public place, smiling broadly, sticking out a hand and asking, “Remember me? I grew up at the Club.” Nothing like it. Join us in making a difference.
